    This is Going to Hurt

Leitmayr's investigation of a Romanian pimp gets a fast conviction. Batic was not part of the investigation because he was a childhood friend of brothel operator Harry Schneider, for whom the victim supposedly worked. But the total indifference of the defendant irritated him. Back in the office, he asks again for the file of the convicted Romanian, because in all his years of service he had never experienced such a quick confession and not a single attempt to reduce his sentence.

    The right to worry

In the bone collection at the Anatomical Institute of the University of Würzburg, a young doctoral student discovers a skull that doesn't match the rest of the skeleton with which it was filed. The skull is significantly younger than stated in the death certificate. That same morning, twenty-year-old Steffi wants to complain to her mother for not waking her up. But Andrea Schwinn is found strangled in the parlor of the inn that the family has run for generations. Her father, Holger Schwinn, is nowhere to be found. One of his hunting weapons is missing. While Chief Inspector Felix Voss and his colleagues, Chief Inspector Paula Ringelhahn, Inspectors Wanda Goldwasser and Sebastian Fleischer, and the head of forensic science, Michael Schatz, begin their investigation at the inn, an elderly woman pitches a small tent on Jakobsplatz directly in front of the Nuremberg police headquarters because she cannot accept the police's refusal to take action in the case of her missing adult son.

During the interrogations, Batic and Leitmayr found a confusing multitude of truths, when the observations of the eyewitnesses contradict each other. The highly complex investigations drag on for several months without any results until the investigation is closed. Then a second victim is stabbed.

    Borowski and the Lost Girl

At the heart of the story is a student who accuses her brother of murdering another student. The next morning, Maria's body is actually recovered from the fjord. Investigative duo Klaus Borowski and Sarah Brandt find clues as to why Julia's brother could have committed the crime, but Julia's betrayal cannot be explained by the commissioners. Only when they discover that she has secretly converted to Islam does light seem to be slowly coming into the dark.
