Privacy policy
Couchill is a social network for films and series. This policy explains what we store about you, why, and what you can do about it. Last updated October 4, 2026.
Who is responsible
Couchill is responsible for your data (the data controller). Contact: hello@couchill.com.
What we store
Account: your email address, the name you choose, your profile photo and your password if you set one.
What you do on Couchill: titles you mark (watched, watching, want to watch), episodes you tick, ratings, reviews, posts, comments, likes, lists, recommendations, people you follow, your votes in “What are we watching tonight?”, your country and streaming services, your privacy setting, blocks and reports.
Technical data: sign-in cookies that keep you logged in, and server logs (IP address, time, page) kept for security for a short time.
We do not use advertising or tracking cookies and we do not sell your data.
Why we use it (legal basis)
To run the service you signed up for: your profile, lists, feed and notifications (performance of a contract, GDPR art. 6(1)(b)).
To keep Couchill safe: preventing abuse, handling reports and blocks (legitimate interest, art. 6(1)(f)).
To translate posts and comments into the reader's language (legitimate interest; you can always see the original).
Who can see what
Your name, photo, reviews, ratings and comments are visible to other members. Your lists, posts and custom lists follow your privacy setting (everyone, people you follow, or only you). People you block can't see your profile.
Services we use
Supabase (database, sign-in and file storage, servers in Frankfurt, EU).
Vercel (website hosting).
The Movie Database (TMDB) for film and series information; JustWatch data via TMDB for where to watch. We send them no personal data.
DeepL (Germany) to translate texts people write; only the text is sent, not who wrote it.
Expo for delivering app updates.
How long we keep it
As long as you have an account. When you delete your account, your profile, photo and everything you wrote are deleted right away; backups are overwritten within 30 days.
Your rights
You can see and change your data in the app, download all of it (Settings → Your data) and delete your account at any time (Settings → Delete account).
You also have the right to restrict or object to processing and to complain to a data protection authority (in Poland: the President of the Personal Data Protection Office, UODO).
Age
Couchill is for people aged 16 and over.
